Boat Windscreens

Custom plastic fabrication is the ideal product if you’re seeking a specific product for various uses.  At BCJ Plastic Products, we can handle all your fabricated plastic needs, from safety guards and all-weather covers to boat windshields and caravan parts.

BCJ Plastic Products specialises in other marine fabrication, from hatches and bait boards to built-in seating and custom covers. We have a team of highly trained technicians with access to the latest manufacturing machinery.  Working with premium quality plastics, we use thermoforming, infrared heating, vacuum forming, drape forming and edge finishing techniques to create custom fabrication designed to endure tough maritime conditions.

From speedboats to luxury yachts, all vessels endure their fair share of wear and tear.  Boat windscreens are no exception.  As well as being exposed to harsh UV rays, boat windscreens also need to stand up against wind, water and salt spray.

This is why manufacturing boat windscreens calls for specialty plastics.

Plastics, such as Acrylic, can be formed (shaped) in different ways.  Check out our Cast Acrylic page for more information on its properties.  One of the most popular methods of shaping plastic materials like acrylic is to fold (bend) it on a ‘strip heater’, at different angles. An example of a strip heater is shown below. A heating element extends along the length of the strip heater and gives off intense heat when it is turned on, thus making it easier to bend.

Acrylic is an incredibly useful plastic for applications requiring transparency where high impact resistance is not an issue.  Acrylic is very scratch resistant compared to other clear plastics.  It is a lighter alternative to glass and an economic substitute for polycarbonate in applications where strength is not a crucial factor.  It can be cut into extremely fine shapes using laser cutting technology because the material vaporises upon impact with the concentrated laser energy.
