How does Acrylic Fabrication work?
Acrylic fabrication involves cutting, bending, forming and gluing, and can be used to produce and extraordinarily broad range of custom products for the home or office – from educational aids, to display boxes, from computer risers to venturi seed separators, and from bookshelves to lecterns, there are few limitations other than imagination.
In the first instance, we use a CNC cutting machine – a piece of equipment that uses different size cutting tools to give it a precise and neat finish. The machine utilises computer software that operates on an X-and-Y axis and controls the speed and thickness of the cutter. The technology is widely used in acrylic cutting because of its precision and efficiency.
Before we start the cutting process, we need to have a vector model of the intended design – for which we use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. We can either create what is needed for the job, or can often use a design you have already created, provided the software is compatible.
